Control firmware updates on your corporate Samsung devices
Many companies today choose to develop their custom or in-house apps to address specific business requirements. It’s a great way to boost team productivity by giving employees new tools for staying organized, sharing information, and managing tasks. When your co-workers rely upon enterprise apps to do their jobs, the last thing you want is for those apps to break.
If you want your team to stay connected through an enterprise app, you need to be sure that it won’t crash when users update to new OS versions. What's more, you also need to understand which devices need important security patch and force them to update. Samsung Enterprise FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) gives you a way to handle this challenge. It gives you a possibility to fully control hardware updates using FAMOC EMM. How can this prove useful?
- keep devices up-to-date
With e-FOTA you can ensure employee devices run the same firmware version across your organization. It doesn’t necessarily need to be the highest OS version, but keep in mind that new updates usually bring important security patches and are highly recommended.
pre-test your app
You can delay OS update before enterprise-wide rollout. It gives you time to test your enterprise app on a small set of devices with a new OS version. If there are issues with the app, you can prevent OS updates until there’s a new version of your app.
decide when to update
You can set the target firmware version on your corporate devices and force updates to occur at a certain time so that no one is affected by the device downtime. No user interaction needed.
How it works?
Register to Enterprise FOTA Service
Get a list of available firmware versions (IMPORTANT: you cannot use e-FOTA to downgrade to a lower OS version)
Use FAMOC to force updates on a group of devices or set which version the devices can be updated to using e-FOTA.
